How to Play Gold Rush, Ohio's New $10 Scratch-Off

Ohio launched Gold Rush (game #1097) as one of its newest $10 scratch-offs, with a $500,000 top prize. It plays as a straightforward number-match game, but it has four special symbols that are easy to miss if you do not know what they mean. Here is how it works, straight from the official rules, plus what our data says about whether it is worth your $10.

How to play Gold Rush

The core of the game is simple matching. Scratch the play area to reveal your numbers and the winning numbers. If any one of your numbers matches any of the winning numbers, you win the prize shown beneath your matching number. Match more than one and you collect each prize.

On top of that, Gold Rush has four special symbols, and each one does something different:

Coin: reveal a Coin symbol and you win the prize shown for it automatically, no match needed.
Gold Nugget: reveal a Gold Nugget and you win double the prize shown for that symbol.
$50 Burst: reveal a $50 Burst and you win $50 automatically.
Bank: the big one. Reveal a Bank symbol and you win all 20 prizes shown on the ticket.

The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 3.78, meaning better than one in four tickets wins something.

The prizes

Gold Rush is topped by a $500,000 prize, with a deep stack of mid-tier prizes beneath it. Here are the top tiers and how many were still unclaimed as of late July 2026, from the Ohio Lottery’s own prizes-remaining data.

Is it worth playing?

By our numbers, Gold Rush is a solid $10 ticket. It rates 73.8 on our ValueScore™, in the Good range, with a healthy 73.1% payout percentage, and because it is still fairly new, all three $500,000 top prizes were on the board at launch. That combination, a strong payout with the big prizes still available, is exactly what you want to see before buying in.

As always, the value slips as those top prizes get claimed, so check the current count before you buy. You can see Gold Rush’s live ValueScore and prizes remaining any time on its game page, or compare it against the rest of the state on our Ohio page.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you play Gold Rush in Ohio?

Scratch the play area and match any of your numbers to the winning numbers to win the prize shown under your matching number. Special symbols add more ways to win: a Coin wins that prize automatically, a Gold Nugget doubles it, a $50 Burst pays $50, and a Bank wins all 20 prizes on the ticket.

What is the top prize on Ohio Gold Rush?

The top prize is $500,000. As of late July 2026, three of them were still unclaimed, along with 19 prizes of $20,000 and 54 of $10,000.

Is Gold Rush a good scratch-off?

It is solid. It rates 73.8 on our ValueScore, in the Good range, with a 73.1% payout percentage and overall odds of 1 in 3.78. That makes it a reasonable $10 buy, especially early in its life with the top prizes still available.
