How to Play

Picking Your Numbers

Each ticket costs $5. You choose five white balls from a pool of 1–58, then pick one Millionaire Ball™ from a separate, smaller pool of 1–5. Quick Pick is available if you'd rather let the terminal choose for you.

Drawings happen every single night at 11:15 PM Eastern - the only major MUSL game with a daily draw. Ticket sales close about an hour before the draw; exact cutoff times vary by state.

Winning & Prize Options

There are 9 ways to win. The smallest prizes ($8) can be claimed by matching just one white ball plus the Millionaire Ball, or by matching any two white balls on their own.

If you win either of the top two prizes, you get a choice: take the annuity (paid out annually for at least 20 years, or your lifetime - whichever is longer), or a one-time cash lump sum. The top prize annuity ($1,000,000/year) has a cash option of $18,000,000; the second prize annuity ($100,000/year) has a cash option of $2,200,000. If 21 or more tickets share a top prize, the cash option is the only available payout - it gets split equally. The game replaces Cash4Life and Lucky for Life in all participating states.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the top prize for Millionaire for Life?
The top prize is $1,000,000 per year for life, paid as an annuity. Winners receive $1 million annually until death, with a minimum guaranteed payout of 20 years. There is also a second-tier prize of $100,000 per year for life for matching 5 numbers without the Millionaire Ball.

Can you take a lump sum with Millionaire for Life?
Yes. Winners of the top two prizes can choose between the annuity or a one-time cash lump sum. The top prize ($1,000,000/year for life, minimum 20 years) has a lump sum cash option of $18,000,000. The second prize ($100,000/year for life, minimum 20 years) has a lump sum cash option of $2,200,000.
