Top Prizes Remaining
Scratch-off games with the most top-tier prizes still available to win, ranked across all US states.
How to read this ranking
The table above ranks active scratch off games by the raw number of top-tier prizes still unclaimed at the state lottery. A higher number means more chances left at the jackpot, but the number on its own does not tell you whether the game is a smart buy. Two things change that picture:
- Tickets remaining matters as much as prizes remaining. A new game with 10 top prizes left has poor odds if almost no tickets have been sold yet. An older game with 4 top prizes left can be the better play if most tickets are already in the field.
- ValueScore captures both. The Score column folds in expected value, prize quality, win frequency, and inventory health. Sort by Score to surface games where remaining prizes are concentrated against shrinking inventory.
- Price-point fairness. Use the Price filter to compare $5 tickets against other $5 tickets rather than mixing price tiers.
Data is refreshed 2 to 3 times per week from official state lottery feeds. Games flagged as estimated (orange) come from states that do not publish a complete prize structure, so odds and ValueScore are derived from the prize amounts they do publish.
Frequently asked questions
What does "top prizes remaining" mean on a scratch off ticket?
Every scratch off game prints a fixed number of top-tier prizes (the headline jackpot for that game). As tickets are sold and prizes are claimed, that pool shrinks. "Top prizes remaining" is the count still unclaimed at the lottery, sourced directly from each state lottery's public prize report.
Are scratch off games with more top prizes left actually better to buy?
They have better upside if you hit, but raw count alone is not enough. A brand-new ticket has all its prizes left because almost none have been sold. The signal worth tracking is the ratio of top prizes remaining to tickets remaining. Look at top prizes left alongside ValueScore and overall odds before picking a game.
How often is this list updated?
Active state lotteries are scraped 2 to 3 times per week. Most state lottery feeds refresh their prizes-remaining figures every business day, so the numbers on this page are typically no more than a few days behind the official source.
Which states have the most top scratch off prizes left right now?
Across active games tracked by ScratchCheck, the leaders by total top prizes still unclaimed are California (279,193), Pennsylvania (131,000), United Kingdom (121,851).
Why do some games show "Top Prize Annuity" instead of a cash amount?
A handful of states advertise their grand prize as an annuity (paid over 20 to 30 years) rather than as a single lump-sum cash value. Those games carry an annuity label so the displayed top prize matches what the state advertises on the ticket.
Can I see top prizes remaining for just my state?
Yes. Pick your state from the State dropdown above, or open any state landing page (for example /us/tx) and click the "Top Prizes Left" ranking tab.
