Tomas Munoz of Biscoe, North Carolina picked a $10 Triple Red 777 Jackpot ticket because the sevens matched his birthday, and won the game's first $1 million top prize.
"Seven is my number," Munoz said. "I was born on the 7th in '77."
He bought the ticket at Candor V Mart on South Main Street in Candor and scratched it right there in the store. "I felt emotions all over my body," he said.
At North Carolina lottery headquarters on Monday, he chose between $50,000 a year for 20 years annuity and a $600,000 lump sum. Tomas took the lump sum, and kept $396,060 after tax withholdings; he plans to invest the money and keep restoring classic cars.
