Somebody in Suffolk County has fifteen days to find a lottery ticket. A Powerball ticket worth $1 million, sold at Village Grocery at 328 Main Street in Port Jefferson, expires on September 1, 2026, and the New York Lottery still has not heard from the winner.
The ticket is from the September 1, 2025 drawing, which landed on Labor Day. The numbers that night were 8, 23, 25, 40, and 53, with a red Powerball of 5. The Port Jefferson ticket has all five white balls and missed the Powerball, which pays a flat $1,000,000 as the game’s second prize. Powerball prizes can be claimed for one year after the draw date in New York, so the 1-year anniversary of the drawing is also the deadline.
It was a busy night for that prize tier. Our draw records show ten tickets nationwide matched five numbers for $1 million, spread across California, Florida, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, and two more in Montana and North Carolina had Power Play and collected $2 million each.
