Pepe's, Sally's, and Modern now have their own Connecticut Lottery scratch-off ticket

New Haven's three best-known pizzerias are now on a Connecticut Lottery ticket. Connecticut Apizza, a $5 limited-run scratch-off, uses photos of actual pies from Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, Sally's Apizza, and Modern Apizza. It went on sale early at the pizzerias on Friday, October 2, after a ceremonial first scratch under the Wooster Street archway, Patch reported, and it launches statewide Tuesday, October 6.
The lottery timed the game to National Pizza Month. Jeffery Marini, a manager at Pepe's, told WTNH the pizzeria opened in 1925 and he wasn't sure scratch tickets even existed back then. “I mean this is great to have and be a part of it,” he said.

What the pizza ticket pays
Patch reports that Sally's pies fill the top row of the play area, Modern's the middle, and Pepe's the bottom, 15 chances in all. A rolling pin pays the prize below it, a chef's hat pays five times that prize, and a pizza box wins all 15. A pizza cutter in the Bonus Slice spot pays $100.
The lottery printed 2,060,400 tickets with four $50,000 top prizes, so each ticket has about a 1 in 515,100 shot at one. A prize of $1,000 or more comes up about once in 19,256 tickets. Of the 495,399 winning tickets, 206,024, about 42%, pay just $5 and only get the price back. Prizes total $7,057,040, or 68.5% of sales, close to the 68.6% average for Connecticut's $5 games. It rates 64.6 on our ValueScore™, first of the state's 10 active $5 tickets. A few small prizes are already gone. The lottery's prize table on October 2 listed 27 claimed, most likely from the early sales in New Haven.
Four more new games

The lottery's site also lists four other games with an October 2 start date. X The Money, at $10, is the pick of the group. It has four $200,000 top prizes, about 1 in 456,500 per ticket, overall odds of 1 in 3.13, and a 71.5% payout, above the 69.9% average for Connecticut's $10 tickets. Its ValueScore™ of 86.2 is the highest of the state's 53 active games right now, partly because none of its prizes has been claimed. A 50X symbol pays 50 times the prize shown.
The cheaper three each have four top prizes. Treasure Hunt is a $3 symbol-matching grid game with $30,000 on top, Winner Winner Chicken Dinner is a $2 ticket with $20,000 on top, and Tic Tac Multiplier is a $1 tic-tac-toe game with a $5,000 top prize and a multiplier spot. As of Saturday, those four did not yet show up in the lottery's main list of games for sale, and their pages carried an "Ended" label that does not fit games with every prize unclaimed, so check with a retailer before you go looking. All five are on our new Connecticut scratch-offs page, along with August's four Monopoly tickets.
