D.C. Lottery launches three new Scratchers, including $30 VIP Club

The D.C. Lottery launch three new scratch-offs on sale October 7, and the most expensive one is built differently from most tickets. VIP Club costs $30, and every winning ticket pays at least $40.
| Game | Price | Top prize | Tickets printed | Overall odds | Payout | ValueScore™ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| VIP Club | $30 | $1,000,000 (2) | 457,940 | 1 in 3.33 | 78.4% | 96.8 |
| Wild Cherry | $10 | $100,000 (2) | 241,620 | 1 in 3.46 | 74.5% | 91.6 |
| Emerald 8s | $2 | $8,888 (2) | 240,000 | 1 in 4.46 | 64.3% | 48.4 |
VIP Club ($30)

VIP Club has no prize smaller than $40. Its 91,588 prizes of $40 are the most common, followed by $60 and $100, so any win puts the player ahead by at least $10. The overall odds are 1 in 3.33. The catch is the size of the game. Only about 458,000 tickets were printed, with two $1 million top prizes, about 1 in 228,970 each, and two of $30,000. A "WIN" symbol in a bonus spot pays $100, and a brick symbol pays five times the prize shown. It returns 78.4% of sales as prizes and rates 96.8 on our ValueScore™, second among D.C.'s 20 active games and the only $30 ticket the District sells right now.
Wild Cherry ($10)

Wild Cherry has two $100,000 top prizes in about 241,600 tickets, roughly 1 in 120,810 each. A bag of cash pays five times the prize shown, a star wins all 23 prizes on the ticket, and the bonus quick win pays when two prize amounts match. At 74.5% it pays back slightly more than each of D.C.'s four other $10 games, which range from 73.3% to 73.6%, and its 91.6 rating is the best of the five.
Emerald 8s ($2)
The $2 game tops out at $8,888, two of them, in a run of 240,000 tickets. An 8 symbol pays the prize shown and an 88 doubles it. Its most common prize, $2, returns the ticket price, and it pays back 64.3% of sales.
New games tend to rate high on our ValueScore™ because none of their prizes has been claimed yet. D.C.'s earlier Commanders-themed tickets are still on sale, and all of the District's games are on the D.C. scratch-offs page.
