$800 Million Mega Millions Winning Ticket Sold in Florida

A single ticket sold at a Wawa in Bradenton, Florida matched all six numbers in the July 28 Mega Millions drawing and won the advertised $800 million jackpot. The winning store is located at 14510 State Road 70 E. in eastern Manatee County, just east of Lakewood Ranch and a short drive from Sarasota. The winning numbers were 34, 48, 49, 59 and 70, with a Mega Ball of 12.

It took 37 drawings to get here

The jackpot had rolled over 37 consecutive drawings without anyone hitting it since the last jackpot win landed on March 17, 2026 in Ohio.

Where $800 million ranks among Mega Millions jackpot wins

Among all Mega Millions jackpots that were actually won, $800 million ties for tenth place all-time alongside a September 2024 jackpot for the same $800 million.

Florida seems to be a lucky state, because the all-time Mega Millions record of $1.602 billion in August 2023 was also won there, and this is the largest lottery prize the state has produced since.

What the winner actually collects

The choice is between the advertised $800 million paid out over decades (the annuity) and an estimated $344.2 million taken as cash (the cash option), both of those before tax, and nearly every jackpot winner takes the cash. Two other big winners

The same drawing produced two more multimillion-dollar prizes, with a ticket in Illinois matching five numbers on a 5X multiplier for $5 million and a ticket in New York matching five on a 3X multiplier for $3 million.

With the jackpot claimed, the game resets to its starting $50 million amount for the July 31 drawing.
