An H-E-B Customer Just Won the Last $20 Million Top Prize in a Texas Scratch-Off

A Texas Lottery player is $20 million richer, and the winning scratch-off came from an H-E-B. Better still, it was the very last big prize the game had to give.

A New Braunfels resident claimed the fourth and final top prize in the Texas Lottery's $20 Million Supreme scratch-off last week. The winning ticket was bought at the H-E-B at 2965 I-35 North in New Braunfels, and the winner, understandably, is choosing to stay anonymous.
"My first reaction was, 'Wow!' After I scratched the ticket, I kept looking at it to make sure the numbers matched," the winner told the Texas Lottery. "I must have checked it a dozen times."
A three-year wait for the last one
$20 Million Supreme launched in 2022 as a $100 ticket with four top prizes of $20 million apiece. The first went to La Feria in 2022, and two more were claimed in 2023, in Boerne and then Fort Worth just days apart. Then the game went quiet. It took more than three years for the fourth and final $20 million ticket to surface, this time in New Braunfels.
The store benefits too. Under the Texas Lottery's Retailer Bonus Program, the New Braunfels H-E-B may collect a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket, well beyond the $100 it rang up at the register.
Why this game is basically done
Here is the part worth paying attention to as a player. The Texas Lottery says $20 Million Supreme printed roughly 10,379,010 tickets with more than $829 million in total prizes, but now that all four $20 million top prizes are claimed, the game is expected to close soon. As of the latest data there are only a couple of $100,000 second prizes left and nearly 50 worth $10,000. Once a game's headline prizes are gone, it is a much weaker buy even while it is still on the shelf, which is exactly why we track which games still have their top prizes and how a game changes as prizes get claimed.
"I've been playing Texas Lottery scratch ticket games for about 15 years," the winner added. "I love the thrill of the instant win!"
Congratulations to the New Braunfels winner, and to a very good day at the grocery store. If you play in the state, current Texas scratch-offs, and which ones still have their big prizes, are on our Texas page.
