New Jersey lottery players won $5.3 million in one week, led by a $2.97 million courier ticket

Nineteen New Jersey Lottery players won draw or scratch-off prizes of at least $10,000 in the week ending August 30. According to the lottery's weekly report, the prizes add up to $5,320,145, and more than half of that is from ticket.

The $2,975,145 Jersey Cash 5 jackpot from the August 24 drawing is the largest prize on the list and the only one with no store, no address, and no town beside it. Where the other 18 entries name a retailer, this one reads as Jackpocket (courier).

Why the biggest prize has no address

Jackpocket is a lottery courier. A customer orders a ticket in the app, the company verifies identity and location, buys a physical ticket through a licensed New Jersey retailer, scans both sides and stores the paper original. For prizes above $600 it hands the physical ticket to the customer to claim from the lottery in person. New Jersey was the first state to formally authorize the category, in 2019, and Jackpocket was the first registered courier. DraftKings bought the company in 2024.

Nine of the fifteen scratch-off prizes were top prizes

Four of the 19 were draw-game prizes, three on Jersey Cash 5 and one on Powerball, totaling $3,185,145. The other 15 were scratch-offs, totaling $2,135,000. Nine of those 15 match the game's top prize, and a run of them landed on August 28 alone, when Crossword Xtreme paid $600,000, Crossword Bonanza paid $400,000 and $500 Cash Craze paid $200,000.

Crossword Xtreme and Crossword Bonanza are the third and fifth best games in the state on our ValueScore™, at 89.2 and 85.9, and each has two editions on sale. The lottery's report does not say which edition paid. Ca$h Money and $500 Cash Craze are single-edition games, and each now has one top prize left. Big Money Spectacular paid its $30,000 top prize from a $2 ticket that ranks 64th of New Jersey's 66 active games, with one top prize remaining.

The $500,000 on Winter Ice came from a game our data lists as no longer on sale. The prize is the game's top prize, and the claim landed after sales had ended.

Where the money landed

Essex and Passaic counties each produced four prizes, Ocean and Middlesex three each, Bergen two, and Union and Camden one apiece. The Camden entry is the $600,000 Crossword Xtreme at a Wawa in Cherry Hill. Wawa stores sold three of the 19 prizes, worth $675,000 combined, more than any other chain on the list.
