Two grand prizes are still out, and the game is first in the state

Magnificent Millions went on sale March 31, 2026 with three $15 million grand prizes. This is the first one claimed, and the lottery said two grand prizes remain. According to the lottery's prize table, all eight $1 million prizes are still unclaimed too, along with 78 of the 90 prizes of $200,000. About 16% of the tickets have been sold.

The game pays back 84.3% of sales, the same figure as the state's other $30 tickets, and the odds are 1 in 2.78. Massachusetts pays more on scratch tickets than any other state, and its $30 tier is the reason. With so much of the prize pool still on the shelf, Magnificent Millions rates 89.1 on our ValueScore™ scale, first place of 120 games in the state and 50th nationally. The next two Massachusetts games are the $20 $5,000,000 100X Cashword at 87.4 and the $10 Decade of Dollars at 86.8.

Two older $30 games in the state also carry $15 million grand prizes. $15,000,000 Colossal Millions, from April 2025, still has two of them out at 38.5% sold, and Diamond Deluxe, from September 2024, has one left at 51% sold. Current Massachusetts rankings update daily.

What $9.75 million comes to after tax

The lottery withholds 24% for federal tax and 5% for Massachusetts tax on a prize this size.

Amount
Cash option$9,750,000
Federal withholding (24%)$2,340,000
Massachusetts withholding (5%)$487,500
Check at the claim$6,922,500

The final bill is higher than what's above as the winnings falls in the 37% federal bracket, so an extra 13% ($1,267,500) is due next April, federal tax on $9.75 million comes to about $3.56 million under 2026 rates. Massachusetts adds a 4% surtax on income above roughly $1.1 million on top of its 5% flat rate, which puts the state's share near $835,000. After the full taxes, Morales keeps about $5.35 million of the $15 million printed on the ticket, a little over a third. Other amounts can be run through the lottery tax calculator, and the cash-or-annuity choice is covered in lump sum versus annuity.

Massachusetts has had a run of large scratch claims the past few weeks, including a $4 million win on 100X in Harwich and a $1 million win by an out-of-state visitor.
