A Templeton man won $1 million on a 100X ticket in Massachusetts
Robert Archambault of Templeton claimed a $1 million prize at Massachusetts State Lottery headquarters in Dorchester on August 21, on a 100X scratch ticket bought at Village Liquors & Mini Mart in his own town. He took the cash option of $650,000 before taxes, and the store collects a $10,000 bonus for selling it.
The cash figure is 65% of the advertised million, which is the standard discount on a Massachusetts prize of this size and a better ration than the roughly 43% cash option a Powerball jackpot pays. Nearly every winner takes the cash option, for reasons we went through in lump sum versus annuity.
