A $2 million "100Xtra" scratcher sold in East Ellijay, Georgia

A $20 100Xtra scratch-off sold at the Valero gas station at 600 Howard Simmons Road in East Ellijay has paid a $2 million top prize, the Georgia Lottery said Monday. The winner, an Ellijay resident whom the lottery did not name, claimed the prize on Thursday, October 2. East Ellijay is in Gilmer County.

100Xtra went on sale July 21 with three $2 million top prizes in a run of about 3.67 million tickets, so each ticket started with about a 1 in 1.22 million shot at one. About 23% of the tickets have sold. The Georgia Lottery data in our database on October 5 still listed all three top prizes as unclaimed, which suggests the East Ellijay claim hadn't been counted yet by the Georgia Lottery. If it has two left, a ticket bought now has about a 1 in 1.4 million chance at one of them. The game pays back 78.4% of sales, and 179 of its 223 prizes of $10,000 remain. It currently rates 89.7 on our ValueScore™, the highest of Georgia's 201 active games, though that score will drop once the claim shows up in the data. We explained the ticket's play style when it launched in our guide to 100Xtra.

The win is one of many big Georgia scratch-off prizes since August. According to 11Alive, the lottery has reported scratch-off wins of $4 million in Athens, $3 million in Liberty County and Thomaston, $2 million in Cumming and Warner Robins, and $1 million in Augusta and Flowery Branch over that stretch, plus a $1 million ticket sold in Fayetteville last week. We covered the Athens $4 million ticket, the Thomaston $3 million winner, and the Flowery Branch $1 million ticket. Georgia players claimed $38.6 million in scratch-off prizes last week, the lottery said.
