The Maryland Lottery just launched six holiday scratch-offs on sale Friday, October 16, at $1, $2, $3, $5, $10, and $20. The $20 game works differently from the rest. This ticket has just three prizes. About 1 in 12 tickets wins $100, 1 in 33 wins $200, and 1 in 378 wins $500, the top prize. There is no chance at a big jackpot, but there's also no $20 win that only gives the money back. It returns 77.5% of sales, about the same as Maryland's other $20 games, and rates 76.6 on our ValueScore™, second of nine behind Extreme Green. Several states sell a version of the same game, usually with odds near 1 in 8 or 1 in 9.

Winter Multiplier ($10)

Peppermint Payout ($3)

Six top prizes of $30,000, about 1 in 488,000. At 67.9%, it's second of Maryland's nine $3 tickets on payout and first on our rating.

Season's Greetings ($2)

Six prizes of $10,000 in about 2.9 million tickets, and 64.0% back. It rates first of Maryland's 11 $2 games.

Cozy Cash ($1)

The $1 game tops out at $500, with 35 of them, about 1 in 97,000. Like the rest of Maryland's $1 tickets, it returns about 60%. Maryland's payouts are nearly flat within each price, and they trail the national average at $1 and $2 but beat it from $3 up, by about 2.5 points at $5 and 2 points at $10 and $20. Maryland's September launches and the rest of its games are on the Maryland scratch-offs page.
