The claim deadline is not a year from purchase

Pennsylvania scratch-off prizes expire one year from the game's end-sale date, which the lottery posts at palottery.com. The clock does not start when you buy the ticket. A ticket bought early in a long print run can carry a claim window well beyond a year, and one bought shortly before a game is pulled can carry far less.

The lottery advises winners to sign the back of the ticket immediately and call 1-800-692-7481. Claim deadlines by state and how to claim a scratch-off prize cover the wider rules.
