The Rhode Island Lottery launched two scratch tickets on sale on Saturday, September 5. According to the lottery's game listings they are Cash Extravaganza at $20 and Ghostbusters Jumanji at $5, game numbers 1489 and 1501.
The $20 game arrives at the top of the state table. Cash Extravaganza enters at 93.1 on our ValueScore™ scale, ahead of all 73 games on sale in Rhode Island and 20th of the roughly 2,840 games we score nationally.

Short odds on a small top prize

The median $20 game in the country pays its top prize once per 800,000 tickets, so this one is more than four times easier to hit. Ghostbusters Jumanji follows the same shape, with four $25,000 top prizes at 1 in 133,825 against a $5 median of 1 in 825,775.

Four of those five pay within 1.4 points of each other and win at almost the same rate. What separates them is how much of the prize pool is left, and Cash Extravaganza has all of it.
A licensed game that pays above its tier
Ghostbusters Jumanji is the more unusual of the two. Licensed scratch tickets tend to pay less than unbranded games, because the license costs money that comes out of somewhere. This one returns 70.1%, above the 68.7% average for a $5 ticket in Rhode Island and ahead of the state's other branded $5 games. Wheel of Fortune pays 68.1%, Patriots 68.0%, and Soccer Fortune 68.3%. Only RI 250 pays more at $5 in the state, at 75.2%, and that game is 81% sold.
It still trails the national $5 average of 69.3% by less than a point rather than beating it outright, and Rhode Island's $5 tier is thin at 68.7% to begin with. Against its own shelf the game is a good version of a $5 ticket.
