A Rock Hill man won $500,000 on a $10 Triple Red 777 scratch-off he bought at Scotts Food Store on Heckle Boulevard, the South Carolina Education Lottery said. It was the first top prize claimed in the game, and the ticket beat odds of 1 in 1,272,000.

He bought the ticket after leaving work, when the game caught his eye. After cashing it, he went back to work. He chose to remain anonymous. “It was unbelievable,” he told lottery officials. He has no immediate plans for the money. “Maybe I’ll believe it when it hits my bank account,” he said. Scotts Food Store gets a $5,000 commission for selling the ticket. WSOC-TV in Charlotte also reported the win.

Triple Red 777 went on sale October 6 as a set of four games at $1, $2, $5, and $10. The lottery printed about 6.36 million of the $10 tickets with five top prizes, and four are still unclaimed as of October 16, 2026. About 9.6% of the tickets have sold, so a ticket bought now has about a 1 in 1.44 million shot at one of the four. Its overall odds are 1 in 3.46, and 58 of its 61 prizes of $10,000 remain.

The game returns 75.5% of sales as prizes, about a point above the 74.4% average for South Carolina's nine active $10 tickets, and it rates 86.0 on our ValueScore™, first among them. The $5 Triple Red 777 still has all four of its $200,000 top prizes. Triple Red 777 is sold under the same name in other states, including North Carolina, where it paid a man born on the 7th in '77.
