A Pennsylvania Lottery scratch-off with a $1 million prize was sold at the Sunoco on William Penn Highway in Wilkins Township, KDKA reported Friday. The ticket was a $20 Snake, Rattle and Roll, and the station gets a $5,000 bonus for selling it. The lottery did not name the winner.

It is the fourth $1 million-plus scratch-off sold in Allegheny County in about two weeks. A $3 million The Hunt for $3,000,000 ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven in South Park Township, and on September 29 the lottery announced two more tickets worth $8.25 million, sold in Pittsburgh and Bellevue. KDKA counts the Wilkins Township ticket as the eighth scratch-off sold in western Pennsylvania this year with a prize of at least $1 million.

Snake, Rattle and Roll went on sale August 8 with five $1 million top prizes, one for every 1.44 million tickets, for a run of about 7.2 million. Lottery data on October 2 still listed four of the five as remaining, along with 15 of its 20 prizes of $50,000. About 23% of its tickets have sold.

It returns 78.4% of sales as prizes, slightly above Pennsylvania's $20 average of 78.0%, and rates 81.9 on our ValueScore™, the highest of the state's five active $20 games. Pennsylvania's $20 tickets also pay back about three points more than the national average for that price, one of the reasons the state's scratch-offs tend to rate well.

Pennsylvania scratch-off prizes expire one year from the game's end-sale date, and the lottery tells winners to sign the back of the ticket right away and call 1-800-692-7481. Which Pennsylvania games still hold their biggest prizes is on the Pennsylvania top prizes remaining page.
